This page exists to orient churches to the kind of teaching I offer and the posture from which I teach.
Teaching Scripture is not about novelty, volume, or performance. It is about helping people see what is already there—clearly, patiently, and in its proper order.
Much of my work centers on helping individuals and congregations recognize the coherent pattern that shapes God’s relationship with His people: a story in which grace precedes command, identity precedes obedience, and covenant frames every act of faithfulness.
This kind of teaching is not designed to rush people toward conclusions, but to help them dwell more attentively in the text itself.
At the center of my teaching is a simple conviction: Scripture tells one unified story, and it is meant to be read as such.
My teaching focuses on:
The covenant storyline that holds Scripture together
The recurring biblical pattern in which God acts in grace before calling for response
Reading the Bible as a coherent narrative rather than a collection of disconnected passages
Formation that emerges from sustained attention, not information overload
Rather than offering a catalog of topics, I work from a consistent interpretive lens—one that helps listeners learn how to read Scripture more faithfully, not just what to think about a particular text.
I adapt teaching to the needs and rhythms of each congregation, working in conversation with local leadership.
Common contexts include:
Adult Bible classes
Multi-week studies
Weekend seminars or retreats
Special topic series
Teacher or leadership-focused sessions
Length, structure, and pacing are always flexible. My aim is not to impose a program, but to serve the church’s existing teaching life.
I approach teaching with deep respect for Scripture, congregational leadership, and denominational convictions.
My work assumes:
Scripture as authoritative and worthy of careful handling
A high view of the local church and its shepherds
Teaching that seeks to build coherence, not controversy
A commitment to serving rather than disrupting congregational life
I am particularly mindful of the theological commitments and teaching traditions within Churches of Christ, and I seek to work within those convictions with care and humility.
This teaching tends to serve congregations that:
Value deep, thoughtful engagement with Scripture
Are open to slowing the pace of study for greater clarity
Desire formation that emphasizes trust, coherence, and faithfulness over novelty
It may not be the best fit for every context—and that is entirely appropriate. Discernment matters, and alignment should be mutual.
I have spent years teaching Scripture in church settings, writing guided studies, and working with small groups and leaders who desire a more coherent and faithful way of reading the Bible.
My work has grown out of long-term study, pastoral concern, and a conviction that Scripture does its deepest work when it is approached patiently and without pressure.
